Hasbro is offering a new wave of Iron Man retro carded figures that come packaged on blister cards inspired from the Mid-1990’s Iron Man animated series line. Tales of Suspense was a comic book series that ran from 1959 to 1968, and this gold armor appeared in that series. This armor is also one of Tony Stark’s first suits of armor, which he used to replace the grey armor.

Iron Man is packaged on a retro inspired blister card inspired from Iron Man figures by Toy Biz in the mid 1990’s, with retro inspired artwork of this package on the front and back. These figures are comic-inspired, and not based on the vintage toyline that originally came packaged on these blister cards back in the mid-1990’s that was used for Iron Man The Animated Series.
Iron Man is a repaint from the grey version that Hasbro offered, and comes in his classic gold armor. He includes an Arc ReActor on his chest, a soft plastic skirt, and an antenna on his shoulder. The sculpt is impressive for the price point, including the details for the bolts, dark gold painted lines on segmented parts of the suit that reapply brings out the details. The tiny details on the belt and the overall design of this sculpt looks accurate to the comics and you’re definitely getting a great Iron Man figure here, even better than I had originally thought.
Iron Man comes with two heads, a helmeted head with eyes and a mouth showing through, and a Tony Stark head.
He also includes two sets of interchangeable hands, two jet effects, and two smoke effects that can only be placed on his feet.
The two jet effects are placed inside the smoke effect to create the look of his flight, and there is a peg on the jet to plug into his feet. His hands do not have a plug.
His articulation is also standard for the line, and includes a ball jointed head and neck, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball joined hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel thighs, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Iron Man Model 01 figure look great to their comic book likenesses and are surely essential additions to your Avengers and Iron Man collection. I do wish however that Hasbro would save this style of the blister card for modern updates to the vintage ToyBiz lines, but it’s still great to see characters like these made it into the line. Make sure to grab these figures now at BigBadToyStore for $25.99.
