Back in 2002, Hasbro and Takara-Tomy relaunched the Transformers brand with a new trilogy of shows and toy lines, with Armada being the first, Energon and then Cybertron. Transformers Armada introduced new designs for classic characters, including some new characters that have now become memorable. Megatron’s design slightly resembled G1 Galvatron, and as you should be aware Megatron becomes Galvatron in not only G1, but Armada and other series as well. Tranformers Armada was also known for its animation mistakes, which hurt the quality of the show, but at least the toys are more memorable.
Thank you to BigBadToyStore for sending along Hasbro’s Transformers: Legacy United Leader Armada Universe Galvatron figure for review.
BigBadToyStore has Galvatron in-stock for $52.24 in substandard condition, $54.99 in standard condition or $59.99 in collector condition.
Availability: September 2024 at BigBadToyStore
Galvatron is packaged in the standard window box packaging that is has been seen many times over in this line, including nicely done artwork and images on all sides. On the back are images of Galvatron in both modes, including a look at the tank in the front, which is one of his abilities in robot mode.
Galvatron is a repaint of Armada Megatron, which is still listed on backorder for me and hasn’t shipped yet, so this is my first-time getting a look at this sculpt in-hand. Galvatron comes in purple, light grey, black, red, metallic gold and silver, which are accurate for the character. This is a great representation of him, and a great homage to the vintage toy as well.
The head sculpt looks great, and the likeness to the character is spot on. There are also Decepticon logo’s on his shoulders.
In robot mode, his cannon can be rotated to his left or right sides, removed and placed on either wrists, or the top of the tank can be rotated from the back and placed in the front, so he has extra chest armor and can fire the cannon and read double barrel blaster from the front. This is some great engineering right here, along with some great features that you don’t see on other Megatron or Galvatron figures.
For a breakdown of the articulation and a look at the instructions, see the video above.
The tank mode also looks great, and he can raise and lower his cannon and double barrel blaster. There are tank trends, but those don’t rotate, and instead there are small wheels on the bottom, as you would expect for a Transformers figure like this. The Depceicon logo is seen on the top next to the cannon, and the top of the tank can rotate, which is something I forgot to mention in the video.
Overall, Hasbro’s Transformers Legacy United Armada Galvatron figure looks great and has an excellent character likeness and features that are unique for this figure. Despite not being a fan of Armada, I did enjoy the vintage toy line and this offering brings all of the vest the best of this version of Galvatron. This is a version of Galvatron that you should grab, so make sure to pick him up today at BigBadToyStore.
