Mattel is offering a new wave of their Master of the Universe Masterverse New Eternia line, which includes Flying Fists He-Man, Fisto and Evil Lyn. Evil Lyn is inspired from her classic 80’s design, and is one of Skeletor’s second-in-command. She is an evil witch and a skilled sorceress but not as powerful as Skeletor. Evil Lyn was first introduced in 1983 and was created as a counterpart to Teela.
Thank you to Entertainment Earth for sending along their Masters of the Universe Masterverse New Eternia Evil Lyn for review.
Availability: November 2024
Evil Lyn is packaged in a window box, with artwork of the character on the front, Panthor and Skelcon on the left side, images of her on the right, and the back includes images of the figure, a description, and a look at the rest of the wave.
Evil Lyn is inspired from the classic 80’s appearance and given some new elements in this modern line. This is a fresh look at the character while paying homage to what has come before. She comes in a dark blue outfit, with a lighter blue that is used as accents that appear metallic, along with light grey forearm guards, cuffs, collar, and dark grey bracelets on her biceps. There is also a metallic silver belt with blue accents, and silver skulls around her waist. The cape is black and fabric, and she does have a lot of great details designed in the costume, including a soft plastic piece hanging down the crotch area.
Her head sculpt is helmeted, which is dark blue and light blue accents/spikes that also look metallic. There are also lines that run through the dark blue area in-between the light blue, and there is also a metallic silver skull on the front.
Evil Lyn includes three sets of interchangeable hands, staff and an orb.
The spell casting and open grip hands are given painted fingernails. The official details specify that the cape is removable, however that is not the case as it’s sewn into the black plastic collar. The orb connects to the staff and she can hold it with one or both open grip hands.
His articulation includes a ball jointed neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
Comparing her to what has come before, you can see that she stands out from previous offerings and is defiantly an improvement. There is also a height difference as she stands a bit taller compared to her MOTU Classics and previous Masterverse offerings.
Overall, Evil Lyn is a great figure that fans are sure to enjoy. There is some great attention to detail on the sculpt, especially the armor and character likeness. This is definitely an Evil Lyn figure that has a great representation to the source material while given some new elements.
