Frag-Viper is packaged on a window box with artwork and logo’s and images on the front, an image on the left side, and images of the figure on the back with nicely done toy photography and a closer look at the head and helmet next to it.

Frag-Viper comes in his classic outfit and colors, with updates such as removable vest, belt with pouches, and the vest has an overlay around it with a Cobra logo in metallic silver. He also has two holsters for the small machine guns on his hips, which are loose fitting, bicep pouches that are also loose fitting, and a left gauntlet. Some of the body is also reuse, including Ripper’s legs, the SAW Viper’s arms. Frag-Viper’s colors are orange, both light and dark blue, b down, black and metallic silver, which is both inspired by his classic 1989 o-ring figure, and given some new elements as he is also modernized into the 6″ line.

For the first-time, the Frag-Viper’s helmet is removable, and the G.I. Joe design team went ahead and made something truly usual and unique for the character, and gave him this great looking zombie/cyborg head. The facial details are great, especially the detail and paint applications on the eyes, and the rest of the head is given a black hood. The helmet is metallic silver, black and given metallic black eyes, which is a nice touch.

The Frag-Viper is all geared up, including the removable helmet with flexible tube, a backpack, two machine guns, a flying grenade effect piece, a cesta, and a grenade tube with a smoke effect behind it.

The tube is thick, flexible, and connects to the back of the cesta and backpack. The cesta is curved, metallic silver and there’s a handle that his hand can hold. The 1989 vintage o-ring figure had something similar, but that also had small grenades that shot straight up when you flicked it. This has a grenade with a smoke effect, that plugs into one of the two holes on the cesta, and does not shoot up, only stays in place.

The machine guns are the same, and fits in his hands or the holsters on his hips.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, swivel-hinged and butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.

Overall, the Frag-Viper is an excellent offering and a nice update in this modern 6″ line. The character is rarely used in a G.I. Joe line and you don’t get too many chances to own him in any scale, so it’s great to see him make the cut in the 6″ line. This is surely a great figure and one you should add to your collection. Make sure to grab him now at BigBadToyStore.
