Mattel is offering some new Evil Horde members in their Masters of the Universe Masterverse New Eternia sub-line, which includes Mantanna and Mosquitor. These are two classic characters and helps build up the She-Ra: Princess of Power Evil Horde cartoon villains from the 1980’s series. Mantanna is an insectoid creature with four legs and pop-out antenna eyes, and acts goofy in the classic She-Ra cartoon. Mosquitor is an energy-draining insectoid that also looks like a cyborg creature with a long, pointed metal head and needle nose that drains an enemies blood from them. Both characters are part of Hordak’s inner circle, and are available now to purchase at BigBadToyStore.

Mantanna and Mosquitor are packaged in the standard window boxes for the Masterverse line, which includes beautifully done artwork on all sides, including the Masters of the Universe New Eternia logo’s. The back includes images of the figures, a look at their accessories, and a look at the wave.
Mantanna is an insectoid creature with four legs, interchangeable eyes, and inspired by his classic appearance in the 1980’s with some modern updates.. He comes in his classic colors, including red, dark blue, black, with a gold belt wit the Horde logo in the front of it, a Horde logo in red on his chest and an orange plastic piece just above it. His arms and legs include sculpted bumps and fins, and the armor overlay on his chest is removable, which is a new feature for the character.
His head sculpt pays a great likeness to the character, and he includes two removable bug eyes (that’s hard to remove, and you need to remove the front part of the face to remove these eyes), sharp white teeth, and big ears.
The interchangeable eyes include a pair of eye stalks, which recreate the vintage toy feature of the eye balls popping out. These can also swivel around.
Also included with Mantanna is a blaster, which an eye ball can plug into.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips x4, swivel-hinged knees x4, hinged and rocker ankles x4.
Mosquitor is an energy-draining insectoid that also looks like a cyborg creature with a long, pointed metal head and needle nose that drains an enemies blood from them. He is also inspired his vintage design with some new features. He comes in his classic colors, including black, red, purple, grey, silver, and white eyes. The chest piece is interchangeable, which shows a full blood amount of partial pieces. The wings are ball jointed, and have an insect-like design. His gauntlets and boots are armored, and the shoulder pads are given some spikes and made of a soft plastic.
The head sculpt has a long nose where the accessories can plug into, which includes a needle, blade, and a long tube, which all can also plug into the blaster or the nose. He also has a tube on the back of his head that plugs into the back and back of the neck. Here is also a closer look at the interchangeable chest pieces.
The fact that the accessories can plug into the nose or blaster is another new feature for him, and he can even hold these in either open grip hand (they are loose fitting though).
His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel boots, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, both Mantenna and Mosquitor are great looking figures that fans are sure to love and fits in with the New Eternia portion of the line very well. These are also awesome updates to their vintage counterparts, and make great additions to the line and two figures you’re not going to want to miss out on.
