Super7 are offering a special G.I. Joe ReAction+ Cobra Commander Figure and G.I. Joe #1 comic book set, which is limited to 5,000 pieces. The comic book is a reprint of the first-issue, and published in June 1982 by Marvel Comics. This classic comic book series predates the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero animated series and was meant to coincide with the action figure 3 3/4″ o-ring line that also started in 1982. Cobra Commander is included and comic-inspired, and the package is resealable so there is no need to cut anything open to remove the comic or figure, which is great for in package collectors and fans looking to open it. The set is priced at $29.99, and you can order it by clicking HERE!

Cobra Commander and the Comic Set comes packaged in a window box, with logo’s and artwork on all sides, including an image of the comic, a bio and a description on the back. There’s also a Flag Points coupon on the back as well. The box open without cutting tape, and everything is resealable allowing you to open and close it. Cobra Commander come in a plastic tray, along with the comic behind him, with the comic is simply placed on the back, and not sealed inside just like the figure, as there is no cutting plastic or tape required on the inside plastic tray as well.

G.I. Joe #1 is reprinted and the paper quality is pretty much in line with the original print back in 1982, which is a nice tough. The front and back paper has a better quality of paper, with every page printed in color and every panel was hand drawn by Larry Hama. The last page is a look at the G.I. Joe P.I.T., the head quarters of G.I. Joe.

Cobra Commander is inspired by his appearance in this issue, but he is shown with two different outfits in this comic, including his classic hooded outfit, and this helmeted one. He comes in a dark blue outfit (but in the comic he’s depicted with a lighter blue), with light brown trim, belt, a holster on the right hip, straps on the left knee, and vertical straps on the sides of the pants. The head sculpt is given a blue helmet that is non-removable, with a chrome faceplate.

Included with Cobra Commander are two basters, which can be placed in his hands. He has a good grip on both as these won’t fall out too easily, which is something that cannot be said about some of Hasbro’s G.I. Joe o-ring figures over the past several decades.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbow, ball jointed waist, ball jointed hips, and hinged knees. This is the same as all other o-ring style figures.

Here is a comparison with the 2004 Cobra Commander figure with the hooded mask by Hasbro, which was offered in a G.I. Joe comic-inspired 3 pack along with Baroness and a Cobra Trooper. This particular Cobra Commander and Baroness figures could not hold onto their weapons very well, so this new one by Super 7 is a upgrade in that way.
Overall, Cobra Commander is a nice figure and a welcome addition to this new era of o-ring ReAction+ figures by Super7. The attention to detail and character likeness looks great, and fans are surely going to want to add this to their collections. Make sure to grab this set now at BigBadToyStore!
