Astrotain comes packaged in the standard window box for the line, with images and artwork of the character in both sides, including the Transformers logo, and how many steps for his transformation on the front. The sides includes additional images and logo’s, and the back includes a description, a screen shot in his locomotive mode from the film, and a look at him in all three modes. A sheet of instructions is included to transform him into all three modes.

Astrotain is part of the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the film and is designed on how he looked in Transformers: The Movie 1986, with animation colors. He is a triple-changer Transformer, capable of transforming into a locomotive, space shuttle, and a robot mode. The figure is mostly dark grey and purple, with some yellow on the windows and head, silver, light grey and red. The sculpt is pretty complex and the transformation is sophisticated, but experienced adults can transform him into all three modes. In this mode, he has two Decepticon logo’s on the front of the wings.

His head sculpt includes a light grey face plate, red eyes, and a purple and yellow helmet. Out of the box he comes mis-transformed, and the instructions specify how to property get him to look this this, as the top chest part needs some minor tweaks. The blasters can also be stored on the sides of his back as shown.
In robot mode, his articulation includes a ball jointed head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel wrists, swivel waist, swivel-hinged hips, hinged knees, and hinged ankles.

Astrotain includes two blasters, a long one and a short one, along with three blast effects that can be used used for the blasters, and all three on the back of the locomotive or shuttle modes.

Here is a look at his steam locomotive mode, which is more cartoon-accurate than his shuttle mode, and features working coupling rods on its wheels, and the back of the locomotive can open as shown in the Transformers: The Movie. A smoke stack is also included and be used exclusively for this mode, which plugs into two ports on the top. The blast effects can also be placed on the back, as shown. There are two Decepticon logo’s on the front of the sides, and the yellow windows are featured on the sides of the back.

The Space Shuttle has a great likeness and proportions to that of an actual shuttle, which looks great. He comes with light blue windows in the front of the cockpit, a Decepticon logo on the nose, a fin, Decepticon logo’s on the top of the wings, and the blast effects can be plugged into his back. The blasters can also be stored on the back of the sides as shown. There are also tiny wheels on the bottom, which folds down.
Overall, Astrotrain is an excellent figure that fans will need to build their Decepticon ranks, and as this release is more G1-accurate, it’s a definite must have. This is one of the best Astrotain figures ever released, and long time fans, and fans jumping on board the line now will appreciate this figure.Make sure to grab Astrotrain now at BigBadToyStore by clicking HERE!
