Hasbro is now offering their G.I. Joe Classified Series 6″ David Red Dog Taputapu & Varujan Taurus Ayvazyan Set, which are reinforcements for Sgt. Slaughter as these are two members of his team The Renegades. Red Dog and Taurus are inspired by their 1987 vintage o-ring figures, which was originally a 3-pack that also included Mercer. This set gives Red Dog and Taurus their debut in this modern 6″ line, and completes the team of the four Renegades members.

Red Dog and Taurus are packaged in a window box, with logo’s and artwork on all sides, and the back includes images of the figures with an action shot with some great toy photography.
Taurus is inspired by his 1987 vintage figure with some updated elements that is new to the characters design for the 6″ Classified line. He comes in his classic design, with a yellow shirt, a black harness with silver shoulder pads that was originally sculpted to the figure back in 1987, and this is part of the new elements mentioned. He also comes in green pants with black straps, a brown holster for the revolver that is also collected to the lower belt with a gold belt buckle, and a brown upper belt with a gold belt buckle. The harness also includes a holster for the pistol, and the left side of the leg has a holster for the Kilij sword and knife. His left forearm also has a silver and black guard, and the right one has a black wrist band. Both of the hands have hand guards also in silver and black. There is also a silver armor piece covering the crotch, which is something also new to the character and not seen on the 1987 vintage figure.
Taurus’ articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, ball hinged and butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
HIs head sculpt is nicely detailed with a bald head, a brown goatee, painted eyes and eye brows, and nicely done facial details.
Taurus includes two sets of interchangeable hands (closed fisted and open grip), Ottoman battle axe, Kilij sword, a rifle, pistol, a gold revolver and a knife.
Red Dog is also inspired by his 1987 vintage figure with some updated elements that is new to the characters design for the 6″ Classified line. Red Dog comes in his red and white jersey, with the #1 on the chest and back in white, and the word TAPUTAPU on the upper back also in white, which is something not seen on the vintage 1987 release. Over his torso is a black harness, which is loose fitting and can be removed, which the vintage figure had this sculpted on. He also comes in a brown belt with a gold belt buckle, with a holster for the pistol, silencer, and a sheath on his back for the knife. He also includes dark blue pants with red stopes on the sides, black boots with silver plates on the back, and he also has some jewelry including a necklace with a tooth, a thick gold bracelet on this right wrist, and a loose fitting one on the left.
Red Dog’s articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, ball hinged and butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
His head sculpt is also nicely done with painted lips, eye browns, a sculpted head band over the black sculpted hair and forehead, and nicely done facial details.
Red Dog includes a brown backpack, which is also updated from his vintage 1987 o-ring figure, two sets of interchangeable hands (open grip, right closed fisted, and left open hand for the football), Fa’alaufa’i club, War club, Machine gun, pistol, knife, a silencer for the pistol, football and a Kicking tee.
Taurus and Red Dog are the final two figures need to finish the Renegades team of Sgt. Slaughter’s, and it also should be noted that this is the first complete team offered in G.I. Joe Classified.
Overall, Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Classified Series 6″ David Red Dog Taputapu & Varujan Taurus Ayvazyan Figures both came out great and are a welcome addition to the line.
