Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Classified Series 6″ Hydro-Viper is inspired by his 1988 o-ring figure that was part of the classic A Real American Hero line that many of us watched and collected as a kid. This new Classified 6″ pays homage to that figure, and given a modern update with a very close shade of purple and pink that lines up to the vintage release, along with many familiar accessories that you will remember.

Hydro-Viper is packaged in a window box with the standard artwork and logo’s given to every figure in the line, including images on the left side, and the back includes an action shot and close ups.
Hydro-Viper is inspired by his 1988 o-ring figure and given an all-new sculpt that captures the characters likeness beautifully. He is also given some new elements as mentioned above that was not seen on the vintage release, such as sculpted textures on the vest, left bicep band, forearm guards, hands, ankles, and holsters for the weapons. The holster for the knife is on the right thigh, and the left knee is for the harpoon. There’s also a new brown belt with sculpted pouches, and the vest is an overlay piece with sculpted tubes and pouches painted in red and brown, while the vest itself and most of the outfit is purple. The left forearm guard has some sculpted details of what appears to be a watch with numbers and a tracker in black and yellow. Interestingly enough, there is no Cobra insignia on this figure, which the vintage 1988 figure had on the right bicep.
The head sculpt is mostly masked with purple, with a red mouth piece and some black deco. You can see his eyes, which are painted along wit the flesh around them.
The forearm guards also have some back fins, which is another new element for the design. Both of the hand sculpts also pay tribute to the 1988 release, with the right one being open grip to hold accessories, while the left one being open for swimming.
Here is a look at his underwater gear, which can be placed on the figure just like his vintage release. The helmet is a new head sculpt, which is another new element for him. The tubes on the helmet connect to the backpack with oxygen tanks.
The helmeted head sculpt pays tribute to a sea creature, with long ears, a fin on top of the head, nice done facial details including painted yellow eyes, a mouth piece with tubes connected to it, and sculpted textures on the face.
The Hydro-Viper includes a second head sculpt that’s helmeted, along with a backpack with oxygen tanks, a diving knife, harpoon launcher, Fathom fins and pet devil ray. All of these accessories pay tribute to the vintage release, which were also all included. The Fathom fins are also given a sculpted texture, and the devil ray pays a great likeness to this fish as well, and it’s a non-articulated figure.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, ball-hinged and butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
