The Cobra-La Royal Guard set is packaged in a box with beautifully done artwork showcasing the characters on the front, along with logo’s and images on all sides, and the back also includes a bio card. The figures come in a plastic tray, and their accessories come in a plastic baggie that’s placed on the side.
The Cobra-La Royal Guard is given an all-new design and based on his appearance in the class G.I. Joe cartoon, which is a version of the character not offered as an action figure before. This release is the same as the single packaged offering, with some minor deco changes. This army builder character is insectoid themed, and comes in his red, white, and beige outfit, with a dark blue plastic cape on the back that goes around the shoulders. The beige markings on the outfit are seen on the front, legs, forearm guards, and head, but not on the back as that’s covered by the cape.
The head sculpt includes a helmet, with light blue bug eyes, a red antenna, a dark blue mouth piece with a light blue and beige tubes, along with the red and beige deco.
He is given the same articulation as all other o-ring style figures since 1982, which includes a ball jointed head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel-hinged elbows, ball jointed waist, ball jointed hips, and hinged knees.
The scythe has been offered with the single card release, and made of a light brown plastic.
The spear and the blaster are new for the character, with the spear also made of a light brown plastic, while the blaster has a bit more detail and offered in light and dark green. The spear can only be held in one hand, and this is because the figure has no wrist articulation to allow him to hold it with both.
Here is a group shot of the character, along with Pythona.
Overall, the Cobra-La Royal Guard set is an excellent offering for G.I. Joe and something new for fans, as the character has not seen an o-ring style figure since 1987. So getting these characters now in this format is a special treat for fans looking to boost their Cobra-La ranks. This is a great set that fans will enjoy, so make sure to grab the set now exclusively at BigBadToyStore for $49.99.
