Skaar s getting a much needed update in Hasbro’s Marvel Legends line, and is part of the 85th Anniversary of Marvel Comics. Skaar was last offered in 2008 in Marvel Legends by Hasbro and you can see in the gallery below just how badly he needed a modern sculpt, as the brand team has improved on the quality and likeness of these characters greatly over time. Skaar first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #92 in 2006 and came from the Planet Hulk storyline, andis the son of the Hulk and Caiera the Oldstrong. Skaar takes after his parents with great strength and power and punch his way out of most battles.

Skaat is packaged in a window box, with artwork and logo’s, and he comes packaged in a plastic tray.
Skaar features an all-new sculpt to give him his own unique likeness and differentiate him from the Hulk. He is given a muscular green body with some dark green stripes on the right peck, shoulder and bicep. He is primarily cast in green plastic, with some limited clothing such as the lion cloth around his waist that has some dark grey armor, as well as brown bandages with armor on the right wrist, a spiked bracelet on the left wrist, armored knuckles on his hands, and brown boots with armor in the front. There is also a strap around his torso and a holster on the back of the lion cloth for his knife.
Skaar includes two head sculpts, one with a closed mouth with the black hair going down both sides and the back, and the other with an opening grinning mouth, with the hair being picked up by wind and going to the side.
Skaar includes two sets of interchangeable hands (closed fisted and open grip), a knife, and a sword. The sword and knife’s handles are wrapped in brown brown bandages, and the blades are in a dark grey. The knife includes spikes sticking out the sides of the hands, which is a nice touch.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, butterly and ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, ball joined hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
Skaar was last offed in 2008 by Hasbro and he was one of the early releases when Hasbro acquired Marvel Legends from Toy Biz. As you can see, he is a vast improvement by not only in sculpt, but character likeness as well. This is a perfect example of just how far the brand has come. The 2008 figure also did not have a knife, but it was permanently sculpted to his hip. The sword is also shorter, and this new release has a longer sword that is more visually appealing.
When looking through some old Marvel Legends bins, I not only found the original Skaar, but some early Hulk figures as well. Including King Hulk (2008 Fing Fang Foom wave), and Smart Hulk (2004 ToyBiz). I will say that this Smart Hulk from Toy Biz has proven the test of time and fits in well with the current Marvel Legends style.
Overall, Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Skaar figure is a great looking update and it’s also long overdue to get this update as well. Every aspect about this figure looks great, and the Marvel team have once again knocked the likeness out of the park! Make sure to grab these figures now at BigBadToyStore for $39.99.
