Ro-Bear Bill is packaged in the standard Ultimates! window box packaging, with logo’s, an image on the back as well as a description. He comes packaged in a plastic tray along with his accessories, and the Cat’s Lair blueprint is taped to the bottom of the tray in a plastic baggie.
Ro-Bear Bill is inspired from the ThunderCats series and is inspired from several episodes that the Barbils appeared in, including episode specific accessories. The Barbils are robotic bears and this is a great representation of the character’s appearance, including the sculpt with robotic parts and components, and sculpted dark brown hair on the ankles, forearms, upper chest and back, and around his ears. The head sculpt includes sculpted grooves, blue eyes, a red nose, and a robotic mouth. There are also small bolts on the top of his head, and on his knees.
The Cat’s Lair blueprints are probably from the episode “Berbils,” where they are saved from Mumm-Ra by the ThunderCats and help them build the Cat’s Lair. This is just a piece of paper with simple artwork, but definitely a memorable accessory.
The Berbil Fruit looks like a coconut and can be held in his open grip hands.
The torch and lantern can also be held in his open grip hands, and are both most likely inspired from the episode “Berbils” from the series. The torch includes a brown handle that looks like wood, and a translucent flame, and the lantern is black with yellow sides as if there’s a light source inside.
He is also given four sets of interchangeable hands, including two sets of open grip, closed fisted, and open hands.
The knife was also seen in the episode “Barbils,” which includes a dark grey handle, and a light grey blade. In the episode, Ro-Bear Bill uses this knife to cut Lion-O and Snarf free and introduces himself and his people.
Ro-Bear Bill also includes an interchangeable head sculpt, which is actually Mumm-Ra in disguise from the episode “The Mumm-Ra Berbil.” In this episode, Mumm-Ra discusses himself as a Barbil to trick Snarf into bringing him inside Cat’s Lair.
Ro-Bear Bill is also fully articulated, including a ball jointed head, ball jointed torso, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jionted hips, and swivel-hinged knees.
Overall, Ro-Bear Bill looks great and this is a really good figure capturing his likeness. Fans have waited 40 years for ThunderCats action figures like this, and Super7 surely has not disappointed here. The attention to detail and character likeness is pretty much spot on, and the accessories really round out the character nicely. Make sure to grab him and other figures now at Entertainment Earth!
