Claudus and the Royal Thunderian Guard are packaged in the standard Ultimates! window box packaging, with logo’s, an image on the back as well as a description. They each come packaged in a plastic tray along with their accessories.
Claudus and the Royal Thunderian Guard are inspired from their appearance in the 1980’s ThunderCats series, and are episode specific as both characters were only seen in limited capacity. Both characters are inspired from his appearance in the episode “Return to Thundera.”
Claudus comes in a light and dark purple outfit, with black, light grey, white and dark blue, with a red and black ThunderCats logo as a belt buckle. The left forearm also has a white and orange trim forearm guard. The shoulder pads and skirt are made of a soft plastic, which allows the joints to move as it would otherwise block the articulation.
The Royal Thunderian Guard comes in a light and a dark pink outfit, which is made of soft plastic, a ThunderCats red and black logo on the chest, beige arm bands, a blue holster for the pistol, light and dark blue boots. His skin tone includes a light brown, and beige chest, which matches the details and paint applications on his head as well.
Claudus’ head sculpts come in a closed and open mouth with beige around it, long blonde hair, brown and tan skin, light blue eyes with beige around them, and the open mouth head sculpt has white teeth and pink lips. The hair is also a soft plastic, and to swap out the heads you need to heat them up using a hair dryer to prevent breakage, as it’s difficult to just pop it on and off each time.
Claudus includes three sets of interchangeable hands (neutral, open grip, and open clawed hands), a cane, Time capsule, and Plans for Thunderian War Robot.
The Cane and Time capsule can be placed in his open grip hands, and he has a firm grip on both. The Plans for Thunderian War Robot is made of vinyl and light weight, but has a lot of great details from the series, including the ThunderCats logo.
Claudus is fully articulated, and includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed torso, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, swivel-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
The Royal Thunderian Guard also has two heads, with a closed and open mouth, with brown and beige skin, a dark brown nose, facial hair, a blue head band, and pointy ears. For this figure as well, it’s best to use a hair dryer to swap out the heads to prevent breakage.
He includes three sets of interchangeable hands (open grip, pointy finger, and open clawed hands), a small and large blaster, and a polearm.
The small blaster can be stored in the holster on his right hip, which is made of a soft plastic. Both blaster fit best in the clawed hands, as the handles are too big for the open grip hands. The polearm includes a blade on one end, with a dark brown wrapping below it, and a light brown long handle to represent wood. This can be held in one or both grip hands.
He is fully articulated, and includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed torso, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, swivel boots, swivel-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, both Claudus and the Royal Thunderian Guard looks great captures the likeness of these characters perfectly as they appeared in the classic cartoon. Fans have waited 40 years for ThunderCats action figures like this, and Super7 surely has not disappointed here. The attention to detail and character likeness is pretty much spot on, and the accessories really round out the character nicely. Just make sure to use a hair dryer on the necks before attempting to swap out the heads, as excessive force may break the neck. You can grab them and other figures now at Entertainment Earth!
