Fugitive Waspinator comes from the Transformers: Animated series, which aired from 2007-2009, and reimagined this iconic Beast Wars character with a new trademark name, making him a Decepticon, and having him transform into a car rather than a Wasp. Fugitive Waspinator is similar to Bumblebee in size, and is even a retool and repaint of Bumbleee in this line. He has one goal, to destroy Bumblebee, and is a highly skilled use of his stingers.

Fugitive Waspinator is packaged in a window box with artwork that’s seen in the Age pf the Primes line, with images of him on the front, left side, images of Primes on the right, and images in both modes on the back. Included is a sheet of instructions that is shown in the video above.
Fugitive Waspinator is a repaint and retool of Legacy: United Animated Universe Bumblebee figure, and is painted in dark and light green, black and has a purple Decepticon logo on the upper left chest. The rims are metallic silver and he’s given black tires, and he transforms into a Police hatchback.
The head sculpt has some distinctiveness to Beast Wars Waspinator, with purple insect looking eyes, and keeping similar colors to his counterpart.
He can hold his stingers by bringing the arms together as shown in the instructions (featured in the video above), and the stingers snap together for this pose. They can also be placed on the front of the blaster to use as his primary weapons, or placed on his back to be used as turbo boosters (or jetpacks).
His vehicle mode is a Police Hatchback and the transformation is actually a bit complex for a Transformer of this size. The windshield and windows are a purple plastic, he has a red siren on the top of the car, and the blasters can be placed on the front or back pegs on the sides.
Overall, this is an excellent design for Fugitive Waspinator, and they did a really good job on this one. Waspinator is my personal favorite Beast Wars character and I’d take any incarnation of him that they make. While Transformers Animated is not a show I’ve seen, getting Waspinator as a car is certainly a delight. Make sure to grab him and other figures now at BigBadToyStore!
