Mondo is bringing back The Real Ghostbusters in a big way, with the announcement and first release of their Peter Venkman figure as a 6″ figure. The Real Ghostbusters is the animated adaption of the 1984 Ghostbusters film, which was its own thing and geared towards kids after the success of the early days of the franchise. Mondo started off this line with Peter Venkman, with a Mondo Shop exclusive featuring a 2-pack with Sam Hain, the Ghost of Halloween. This version is the non-exclusive version, but comes with a mini version of Sam Hain being sucked into a ghost trap.
The Real Ghostbusters are long overdue to get such great likenesses and it’s a bit mind-blowing that nothing even comes close to being as good as these. Mondo has filled in the void nicely with these offerings, and they are the perfect company to bring these into plastic form given their high quality take on each of their offerings and excellent likenesses that they bring to the table.
Thank you to Mondo for sending along their Real Ghostbusters Peter Venkman Figure for review.
Editor’s Note – The Ghostbusters Firehouse backdrop is not included with this release and not made by Mondo. It was just used as a backdrop for photography.
Availability: August 2025
Peter Venkman comes in a window box designed as a Ghost Trap, with nicely done artwork on all sides, and the front opens up so you can see the figure inside. Peter comes in a plastic tray along with his accessories.

Peter Venkman comes in his brown Ghostbusters jumpsuit, which features very few sculpted wrinkles and is smooth. In the 1980’s, this was common for animation as each animation slide was hand drawn, and had to be simplified to make it easier to draw. The jumpsuit includes two zippers in the front, with light grey and dark grey elbow pads sculpted over it. He is also given a teal collar, black undershirt, teal cuffs, and black boots with light blue shoe laces.

He also has a light grey belt, with accessories sculpted to it, which is given brown, yellow, and black deco.

He comes with two head sculpts, each with their own facial expression. The facial details look great and gives a great likeness to the source material, and his hair is sculpted with dark brown deco.

Peter includes Slimer with a stand, two head sculpts, Swappable Trap Cartridge with Mini Samhain, Proton Pack with Particle Thrower Wand, two sets of interchangeable hands (open grip black gloves and open grip ungloved hands), Particle Stream, Ghost Trap, and an acrylic stand.

The Proton Pack with Particle Thrower Wand fits over his back, and the wand can be stored on the side. The Proton Pack is mostly light blue, with some red, yellow, orange, and light grey details, with dark grey straps and some light grey and red. It’s connected to the wand with a yellow cord, and the wand includes a light brown handle, and some nicely done painted details and sculpting.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, swivel boots, hinged and rocker ankles.

The Particle Thrower Wand can be placed in either of his hand sculpts, and he has a good grip on it.

The Particle Stream fits into the wand and won’t fall out too easily, and features curves and nicely done details that matches the source material. The trap can also be stored in his hands, and there is also peg it can be placed on the Proton Pack (I forgot to photography that, but it’s on the other side as the wand).

The Ghost Trap also matches the source material, and is mostly light blue, with red, light grey, yellow, metallic silver, black and various other colors giving it an eye catching design. The top is yellow and black stripes, but the trap doors do not open up. This trap also slides out and is interchangeable with Sam Hain. It’s connected to a teal cord, with a platform that he or Slimer can stand on top open and close the trap.

Slimer pays a great likeness to the source material, and is mostly light green, with an open mouth with his tongue and teeth showing, orange eyes, and includes a stand designed like his slime he leaves behind when going through walls. This is a spectacular likeness, and his articulation includes ball jointed shoulders, and a ball jointed peg at the base.

Sam Hain is being sucked into the ghost trap, and it interchangeable with the other trap. Sam Hain is an orange pumpkin, with his head sculpted as one, with a stem, yellow eyes, black mouth and white teeth, orange hands, and a brown outfit, and the lower part of it looks light grey as he’s being sucked into the trap. There’s also a clear and yellow effect wrapping around him pulling him to the trap.

Overall, Mondo has done the best job yet with The Real Ghostbusters, and the likeness and attention to detail is so spot on to the series that it looks like they just walked right out of the show. Ghostbusters fans will surely want to grab these figures now, and you will be happy you did. Egon, Peter and Winston are all up for pre-order at the stores listed below.
