The Disney Store and Disney Parks are offering a new line exclusive Star Wars Droid Factory – Build-A-Droid Series figures, which will see one new droid released from January – June 2026 as this is a monthly offering that will be available on the first Friday of every month. This months offering is R5-K6 astromech droid, which he appeared in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In the film, R5-K6 was partnered with Red Leader Garven Dreis in a T-65B X-Wing Starfighter that was part of the mission to obtain the plans of the Deathstar on the planet Scarif. This droid also appeared in 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope. In this film, R5-K6 was once again partnered with Dreis as part of the forces that attacked the Death Star, engaging enemy TIE Fighters while the Y-wing assault starfighter/bombers of Gold Squadron attempted to exploit the weakness of the thermal exhaust port that the Rebel Alliance had learned from the Death Star plans. After Gold Squadron was mostly destroyed, R5-K6 and Dreis made an attack of their own of the port, but failed to hit their target. The team was killed by Darth Vader when he destroyed their X-Wing Starfighter.

R5-K6 is packaged on the standard Droid Factory blister card, with an image of him on the front, artwork and logo’s on both sides, and the back includes a description, a breakdown of his components, and a look at TC-332, which is the build-a-figure of this wave. R5-K6 includes the torso of TC-332, and other droid figures will include the head, arms and legs. Also included is a collector card with an image of R5-K6 on the front, and a description on the back.
R5-K6 is an astromech droid that is mostly red, black, silver, and grey, with lots of sculpted details and paint applications throughout his body. On his chest there are arms that are sculpted and painted in grey, which cannot be lifted up and used as seen on other figures such as R2-D2.
The head sculpt is dome shaped, with three Primary Photo Receptors and Radar Eyes.
The front leg can be removed, and you can pose him with two or three legs.
The articulation is limited, but standard to astromech droids, which includes a swivel head, swivel legs x2, hinged ankles x2. The leg on the bottom has no articulation.
The torso of TC-332 is included, which is mostly metallic blue and black.
Overall, R5-K6 is an excellent astromech droid and fits in well with the Droid Factory and The Vintage Collection 3 3/4″ figure offerings. The likeness and attention to detail looks great and will look good on your shelf. Make sure to grab him now at Disney Store (already sold out) and at Disney Parks.
