Hasbro is now offering their Transformers: Age of the Primes Alpha Trion figure that is part of the Voyager Class offerings. Alpha Trion is based on his appearance in Transformers Generation 1 cartoon, specifically the episode “War Dawn.” He can transform into robot mode, and a Cybertronian spacecraft resembling the likeness of the unused alteration mode created for the 2005 IDW comic incarnation.

Alpha Trion is packaged in the standard Voyager Class window box for the line, with artwork, logo’s and images on all sides, and the back includes a look at him in both modes. Included is a sheet of instructions for transforming him.
Alpha Trion comes in his Transformers G1 cartoon colors, including red, purple, blue, and silver, with the silver and the area around the cockpit being a metallic purple.
His head sculpt has a good likeness to the source material, and includes a metallic silver face, mustache, a red and purple helmet, and blue eyes.
The shield can be stored on his back underneath the cockpit piece that lifts up, and plugs into the back with a 5mm port and plug on the shield.
The Autobot logo is removable from his chest, and can be placed anywhere that a 5mm port is compatible, such as the shoulders. There are also two shoulder pad spikes that come loose in the polybag and also compatible with the 5mm ports throughout the body.
Alpha Trion includes a Covenant book and the Quill, which the book has ancient Autobot writing and two pages. The first page reproduces its appearance in the Beast Wars cartoon with a tampograph of Cybertron; and the second has the phrase “‘Til all are one” in Ancient Autobot, signed off with Trion’s personal emblem. The book also has a 5 mm post molded on its front cover to allow Alpha Trion to hold it, and can also slot onto tabs on his forearms. The book can also be placed on a port in his back and underneath his vehicle mode.
Alpha Trion’s shield can also be placed in his hand, or on his forearm on the 5mm ports. The Quill can also be stored on the shield, and the Covenant book can be stored on his back.
In robot mode, his articulation includes a swivel head and hinged neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, hinged shoulders, hinged fingers, swivel waist, swivel-hinged hips, swivel thighs, and hinged knees.
Here are some comparisons with some recent Alpha Trion figures.
Alpha Trion transforms into a Cybertronian spacecraft that features the likeness of the unused alteration mode created for the 2005 IDW comic incarnation. The cockpit can store a Titan Master figure, which he can sit in, but the cockpit cannot close (Titan Master figure is not included and you’ll have to use one from an older figure from Titans Return).
Overall, Alpha Trion is a great figure and this is one of the best offerings of him. The likeness and attention to detail looks great and the features such as the Autobot logo being removable is a nice touch. The accessories including the Covenant book and the Quill are great offerings for this figure and something that has not been done before. As he is one of the 13 Primes, he makes a great addition to any Transformers collection. The 13 Primes have not been offered like this before, so this is something new and untouched by Hasbro in the past. Make sure to grab him and other figures now at BigBadToyStore!
