Super7 are continuing their ThunderCats Deluxe line, which are just like their Ultimates line, but for about half the price with fewer accessories (or in Mumm-Ra’s case no accessories) and repainted figures. Mumm-Ra is inspired by his appearance in the ThunderCats animated series, which ran from 1985 until 1989 with 130 episodes. This wave also includes Jaxx, Wizz-Ra and Jagara.

Mumm-Ra is packaged in a window bow that is standard for the line, with the ThunderCats logo on the bottom, with a red and white box that includes the Ultimates logo on the top, an image of him on the front and back, and a description on the back as well. Mumm-Ra is packaged in a plastic tray for safe keeping, along with his accessories.
Mumm-Ra is given an all-new sculpt and inspired by his appearance in the classic ThunderCats cartoon. He is given the same sculpt as the Deluxe figure release with no noticeable differences in deco between the two, other than the fact that the biggest difference here is this release comes with accessories. He comes in an orange and black soft goods fabric cape with a wire around it for posing, which also is included with the Deluxe release. The sculpt itself comes with his white bandages as seen on the series, which a light blue skin tone. The bandages are wrapped around the body, with some hanging loosely and made of a soft plastic.
The only difference between the Deluxe version and the Ultimates version is how the wired cape is connected to and wrapped around the neck, with the Deluxe version connected by a hook, and the Ultimates release stitched together. That’s the only way to tell these versions apart.
He is also fully articulated, and includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed waist, swivel-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Mumm-Ra’s head sculpt features a great likeness, and features red glowing eyes with white pupils, white teeth, and open black mouth, nicely done sculpted facial details, and a blue skin tone. The bandages are also wrapped around his head, with some hanging down the sides.
Mumm-Ra comes with four sets of interchangeable hands (open grip, closed fisted, clawed, and neutral), These hands would also be compatible with the Deluxe version of the release, and these hands allow you to pose and display him with more options.
The staff is all-new, and updated compared to the line that was released by Mattel and Super7 earlier on in the Classics and Ultimates! lines. The staff is similar in design, but has noticeable sculpting changes such as this one having a more smooth handle.
Here is a comparison of Mumm-Ra with Mattel’s ThuderCats Classics release with a plastic cape, and Super7’s first release of Mumm-Ra with a soft-goods cape.
Also included is a Red Translucent Blast Effect right hand, with the effect not removable and attached to the hand.
The Evil Laugh Head with Wizz-Ra Headdress is a nice addition to the accessory list here, as this has not been offered before. The Enchanted Golden Helmet of Pharnoor headpiece does not belong to Mumm-Ra, but to the wizard Wizz-Ra. This has a great likeness to the source material, including the Egyptian design and deco as seen in the cartoon.
Overall, Mumm-Ra is given a great sculpt and looks accurate to the 1985 ThunderCats series. The attention to detail, sculpt and deco are all very well executed and this is probably the best show-accurate Mumm-Ra figure you’re going to get in this scale. This Ultimates! release is essential to your ThunderCats collection as it offers the accessories you need to display this figure, as it’s better than the Deluxe offering for that very reason.
