Super7 is offering their ThunderCats Ultimates Wave 15 figures, which includes Zaxx, Wizz-Ra and Jagara. Wizz-Ra is inspired by his appearance in the ThunderCats animated series, which ran from 1985 until 1989 with 130 episodes. Zaxx is an ancient force of evil and controlled the southern hemisphere of Third Earth, while Mumm-Ra controlled the northern. Zaxx’s powers lay in the Great Rosencrest Medallion.

Zaxx is packaged in a window bow that is standard for the line, with the ThunderCats logo on the bottom, with a red and white box that includes the Ultimates logo on the top, an image of him on the front and back, and a description on the back as well. Mumm-Ra is packaged in a plastic tray for safe keeping, along with his accessories.
Zaxx controlled the southern hemisphere before losing to Mumm-Ra and being trapped inside the Great Rosencrest Medallion, and comes as he appeared in the classic 1980’s ThunderCats animated series. He features a metallic gold and brown armored chest with shoulder pads, a black and orange plastic skirt, silver belt buckle, and a brown and black loin cloth with the letter Z on the front. His boots are brown and black, with brown straps with silver ovals around his lower legs. He also has green sculpted fur on his back, arms, and legs, beige lower chest, and beige hands.
He is also fully articulated, and includes a ball jointed head and neck, ball hinged shoulders x4, swivel biceps x4, swivel-hinged elbows x4, swivel-hinged wrists x4, ball jointed waist, ball jointed hips, hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Zaxx includes two head sculpts, each given a great likeness to the source material, with bird-like features, including the beak, which is grey, a white and black face, red features on the sides of the face, and green fur. The open mouth head sculpt shows his red tongue, and both heads are given nicely done facial details and painted applications.
Included are a total of 13 hands (4x closed fisted, 2x, open grip, 2x claw, and various sets of open hands, along with a right pointy finger hand). Each of these hands are useful when posing as you have almost unlimited options when it comes to this, which is a nice touch.
Also included is the Great Rosencrest Medallion, which can be placed around his neck, or Vultreman’s. In the cartoon, Vultureman found this medallion, wore it, and attempted to overflow Mumm-Ra. The one with Zaxx’s face on it can be held in Vulureman’s hand.

Overall, Zaxx is given a great sculpt and looks accurate to the 1985 ThunderCats series. The attention to detail, sculpt and deco are all very well executed and this is a great character and figure to add to the collection. Characters like this are truly a gift and a great offering for the collection. Zaxx is making his debut as an action figure as the character was too obscure back in the 1980’s to produce.
