Autobot Joyride is given a new figure this year and for the first-time since 1988, fans are able to add this character to their collection. Joyride is based on his appearance in the classic Transformers comic books by Marvel Comics, and it’s about time he’s been released as it’s been long overdue modern update to the line.

Joyride is packaged in the standard window box for the line, with artwork and logo’s showcasing the character in both modes on the front, an image of him on the left, images of the Primes on the right, and the back features a look at him in both modes.

Autobot Joyride is a retool of Targetmaster Sureshot, and given an all-new head sculpt and wheels, with his Powermaster partner Autobot Hotwire, which is a retool from Spoilsport. Joyride is based on his comic appearance and comes in those classic colors, including teal, pink, white, black metallic gold and silver, with a red Autobot logo on his chest.

His head sculpt includes a white helmet, with metallic silver shades, and a metallic gold face.

Hotwire folds into a double cannon blaster that Joyride can hold in each hand. He can also attach to Joyride’s robot mode back (the instructions does not show this), after folding down the front wheels and grill section. The spoilers are also detachable and must be removed from the shoulders to the knees for the transformation.

Hotwire is a retool from Spoilsport, the Targetmaster that came with Sureshot. The blasters that fold up have been removed and replaced with an engine, which also has small blasters. Hotwire is dark blue, white, and metallic gold.

Here is a comparison of Joyride with Sureshot.

The dune buggy mode is a bit of a challenge to transform correctly, as this is one of the more advanced transformations for a deluxe figure. While he looks the part, there are no notable doors or other features like seating, other than a windshield. Above the windshield is the Autobot logo, and he has four rotating wheels. Spoilsport can be placed on the hood and used as the vehicles blaster.
Overall, Joyride is an excellent figure with a great likeness and a character and something new for fans as the character has not been offered by Hasbro in four decades. This is a must to complete your Autobot army in today’s Transformers line, so make sure to add this Transformers character to your collection, You can find him and additional figures now at BigBadToyStore!
