Mattel is now offering their DC Comics Multiverse 6″ Lex Luthor Collect & Connect Wave, which includes Vixen, The Ray, Rebirth Wonder Woman and Gaslight Batman. Lex Luther is based on the DC Rebirth storyline, where Lex becomes Superman and wears a new mechanized/tech suit of armor with Superman’s inisignia on his chest. Lex Luthor is also given an additional head sculpt and Mother Box that came with Spoiler and Harley Quinn, when Lex Luthor became the new leader of Apokolips, taking up the mantle after Darkseid’s passing.

Lex Luthor is based on the DC Rebirth storyline, where he becomes Superman and wears a mechanic suit of armor. Lex is the Collect & Connect offering in this wave, and the assembly is straight forward and easy to assemble. Lex Luthor stands at 6 3/4″ tall and is sculpted in his armor with the Superman Insignia on his chest, which is silver S, with blue around it, gold and red around it. The suit features some great sculpting and has a great likeness to the comic. The suit is painted in metallic colors, including blue, red, silver and gold, and black deco where some of the sculpted textures are. The cape is made of a soft plastic, and painted in red with some sculpted wrinkles to make it look realistic.
In the storyline, Lex becomes the leader of Apokolips, and is given an additional head sculpt and his very own Mother Box that originally came with Spoiler and Harley Quinn figures that were released before this wave exclusively at Wal-Mart. The new head sculpt is helmeted, and the Mother Box features a great likeness and sculpted details. The head sculpt is easy to swap out, but the Mother Box can only rest on his hand, and how its sculpted, he cannot actually hold it.
Lex Luthor is fully articulated, and includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, hinged elbows, swivel wrists, ab crunch, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, Lex Luthor is an excellent figure with a superior figure sculpt and a great likeness. We particularly like the sculpt of the suit and its likeness to the DC Rebirth storyline. This is a great line-up of figures and we are very thrilled to have an all comic-inspired wave, as that is a personal preference of ours. Mattel’s DC brand team has done a great job on character selection, and we look forward to more waves just like this one in the future.
