Matte’s Masters of the Universe: Origins Cartoon Collection line is based on the 1980’s Filmation series, and each figure offered in this line offers a cartoon-accurate figure in this scale. This wave includes Buzz-Off, Invisible Skeletor, and Frosta, which is certainly an interesting choice for a wave considering that Buzz-Off, Invisible Skeletor (based on the episode: “Disappearing Act,” and Frosta (appeared on She-Ra), did not appear in the same episodes.A mini-comic is included with each figure in this wave for story content, which is also shown below.

Buzz-Off is packaged on a blister card with the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe logo and artwork, including Hrdak and Castle Grayskull on the front. On the back is more great artwork that includes characters such as Kobra Khan, Mekaneck, Webstor and Buzz-Off, logo’s, a description and a look at the rest of the wave. A sheet of instructions is included, and the Vengeance mini-comic.
Buzz-Off features a lot of reuse from Cartoon Collection Clawful, including a retooled torso with wings for Buzz-Off on the back, arms, hands, legs and feet. The head and wings are brand new, and the wings are made of translucent yellow plastic that is attached to a brown backpack, and each wing is on a separate swivel joint. The torso is painted in brown and yellow stripes like a bee, and he has brown claws/hands, and brown boots and feet. He also has a yellow belt with a brown lion-cloth, which is also reuse.
The head sculpt is nicely done, and is mostly yellow and given brown stripes on the sides of his cheeks. A visor can be lifted and raised, and you see two different sets of eyes, one insect with teal eyes, the other more like a bee’s eyes that has grooves sculpted in.
Buzz-Off includes a Andreenid lance, which can fit in one or both hands.
A comparison shows how Buzz-Off looks with other releases, including from Masters of the Universe Cartoon Collection, Masterverse, and his vintage-toy Origins style update figure.
He is also fully articulated, and includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, Buzz-Off is an excellent figure with a great likeness to how he appeared on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon of the 1980’s. This is definitely a great modern update and a great addition to the line. Make sure to grab him and additional figures now at BigBadToyStore.
