Mattel continues to offer new figures in their Masters of the Universe: Origins collection, and these figures are part of the Cartoon Collection which is inspired from the 1980’s Filmation (animated) series. Faker is a member of Skeletor’s Evil Warriors and designed to trick the heroes into believing that’s he’s He-Man as seen in He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Catra and Leech are members of the Horde Empire. They both are inspired from their appearance on the 1980’s She-Ra: Princess of Power series.
Thank you to BigBadToyStore for sending along their Masters of the Universe: Origins Cartoon Collection Faker, Catra and Leech Figures for review.
Availability: June 2025
Each figure is packaged on the standard Origins-style blister card, with the appropriate logo’s on top, Hordak above that, Castle Grayskull, and the back includes more great artwork. Shown below that is a look at this wave, and to the right of that is a look at their features. Included is a sheet of instructions, and the Onslaught to Snake Mountain mini-comic.

Each figure is given some reuse and new tooling to create the character’s appearance of how they looked in the He-Man and She-Ra cartoons in the 1980’s.

Faker uses He-Man’s body from the Classic Cartoon Collection, and is given two new head sculpts, one with glowing eyes, and the other with an open mouth. The paint applications on him are almost completely new, including a different shade of beige for the skin, harness, boots, and lion cloth. The Power Sword fits inside the sheath on his back, which connects to the harness.

The head sculpts also have a new shade of blonde hair.

Catra uses shared parts with She-Ra, and given a new outfit over her torso, head cape and collar. The outfit includes the Horde symbol on the front, and she has red forearm guards and red boots. The collar and cape are one piece, and are red and purple, respectively.
Her cat form has no articulation and includes purple fur, with a red harness and mask.

Her head sculpt includes a mask that can be raised or lowered to cover the eyes. She also has blue hair with a pony tail in the back.

Leech is given reused suction cups from his vintage toy-inspired release, reused upper legs from existing Cartoon Collection figures, new head, torso, arms, and lower legs. He comes in green armor, with gold and black, black wrist guards, black ankle guards, and a red Horde logo on his chest. Included with Leeth is a blaster that can clip on his forearm or ankle, or the handle, which can be raised or lowered, can be held by another figure if you choose to use the handle.

The head sculpt looks impressive and you see his teeth, tongue and details inside the mouth, red and black eyes. The skin tone is also a light green, which closely matches the source material.
They are also fully articulated, and includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.

Some companions gives you a look at how the figures compare with that’s come before. You can clearly see the differences in Faker and He-Man from the Cartoon Collection, along with the vast differences between Leech with his first release that was vintage toy inspired.
Overall, all figures are an excellent choice for this line and a great likeness to how they appeared on in the 1980’s cartoon. This is definitely a wave that you’re going to want to add to your Cartoon Collection figures. Make sure to order now at BigBadToyStore!
