Gargantos makes his debut in Hasbro’s Marvel Legends line and is based on his appearance in the classic Marvel vs. Capcom video game of the 1990’s, which saw some of the better known characters from both brands fight each other in a 2-player video game. Gargantos is truly a special offering as the character never gets an action figure, even after his appearance in Marvel Comics, or his live-action appearance in the Doctor Strange film. Gargantos is described as a powerful and monstrous creature that is a giant octopus with with six tendril arms. Using his tentacles, he can strangle and toss around his prey, and he also has incredible strength.

Gargantos is packaged in a box, with the Gamerverse logo and artwork seen on every package of this line. The video game-inspired artwork on the front, sides and back, and the back are images of Silver Samurai and Gargantos, along with stats as seen in the game. Gargantos is packaged in two plastic trays and requires assembly, with all six tendril arms are separate in the tray, along with the eye ball with spikes.

Gargantos is a dark green giant octopus with six bendy tendrils that are rubbery, with sculpted wrinkles and textures that make it look and feel more life-like. At the center is a giant eye ball with an upper and lower movable eye lids, allowing you to control the movement of them, and the eye itself can also swivel around allowing you to look tot he sides, up and down. The tendrils have two different tips, with the top one’s curved or hook shaped, and the bottom are wavy, and you can best bend the tendrils at the center to get him to stand up right.
Interestingly enough, in the game he was given brighter green skin, but Hasbro went with a more darker tone.

The eye ball is his eye catching feature, and is a detailed dark and light red eye ball, with red veins over the white part..The eye lids can also move all the way or down, but not side to side.

Gargantos center part around the eyes given a darker shade of green than the tendrils, which is also seen on the eye lids. This center part is given more sculpted details, and made of a hard plastic, with four small tendrils that are made of a soft plastic but not meant to bend. Each tendril measures just over 11 inches when fully extended, making him one of the tallest Marvel Legends figures this year.

Included with Gargantos is a spiked eye ball, with no eye lids, but it does have the same dark red eye color, sculpted details, and given dark grey spikes.

The tendrils cannot wrap around another figure as they aren’t meant to bend that way, and bend best at the center allowing you to get him to stand up upright to create some dynamic poses as seen the video game.
His articulation includes 6x ball hinged tendrils, 2x hinged eye lids, and a ball jointed eye ball.

The spiked eye ball can be held in one or more of the tendrils, and used to throw at an opponent as seen in the game.

Overall, Gargantos is an excellent figure and a great addition to the Gamerverse offering in the line. This is certainly a welcome addition and one you’d definitely want to add to your Marvel Vs. CapCom collection. As this is his debut offering in Marvel Legends, it’s always good to have the first offering of a character made. Make sure to grab him and additional figures now at Entertainment Earth!
