Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Series 6″ Mini-Comic Wave 2 Figures are a hit with collectors, which all include tiny comic book covers. This wave includes Astonishing X-Men Beast, Phoenix (Rachel Summers from Excalibur), Silver Surfer, Black Widow, Daredevil and Feral. Beast is inspired by his appearance in Marvel Comics’ Astonishing X-Men #1 was released in 2004, which gave the X-Men new costumes and became a one of the most memorable X-Men comic series of all-time.

Beast is packaged in a blister card and the same type of card as seen in the first wave of the Marvel Legends mini-comic series. This includes artwork such as an image of him in comic book format on the front, the Astonishing X-Men logo, and the back includes a look at the rest of the wave, and a look at the comic book cover for Astonishing X-Men #1.
Beast is given an all-new sculpt and based on his Astonishing X-Men comic book appearance from 2004. He comes in his blue sculpted fur that has sculpted textures, and comes in his yellow and black X-Men uniform as seen in the comic series. The uniform is smooth with some sculpted muscles and wrinkles, which is a nice touch and more accurate to the source material.
Beast includes two interchangeable head sculpts, one snarling, and one neutral, with both capturing a great likeness to various comic panels from the comic book series. The snarling face head including a look at his sharp teeth and fangs, tongue, and his yellow and blue cat-like eyes.
His articulation is also standard for this era of Marvel Legends, including a ball jointed head and hinged neck, ball hinged shoulders, butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ab crunch, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles, and hinged toes.
Beast includes two sets of interchangeable hand sculpts, including 2 clawed, 1 left open grip and 1 right closed fisted hand.
The left open grip hand can hold the mini-comic, which features artwork from Astonishing X-Men on the front, and the back has the Marvel Legends and Hasbro logo’s.

Hasbro is slowly growing their Astonishing X-Men offerings in Marvel Legends, with Beast being the latest release. Cyclops, Emma Frost and Wolverine have been previously released, and Kitty Pride and Colossus are getting a 2-pack from this comic next year. The team is growing, which is great.
Overall, Beast is an excellent figure with a great likeness to the source material and a lot of great detail. This is an essential release for X-Men fans so hopefully you’ll pick him up and additional figures from this new mini-comic wave.
