Mattel is now offering their Masters of the Universe Origins 200X Skeletor, Zodak, Prince Adam and Clawful Figures, which are based on the 2002 series, and part of the Cartoon Collection offerings. This has been an excellent sub-line in Origins as this fan-favorite series deserves a modern line like this, despite this show was cancelled before its time. The third season would have been spectacular, as it would have told the story of the Third Ultimate Battleground, with the Masters of the Universe and Skeletor’s Evil Warriors, against the Horde and the Snake Men. The Masters of the Universe Classics mini-comics dove into this a bit, and we learned about some of the loses in the war, the outcome and some of the battles being fought, but it’s not the same thing.
Each figure is priced at $21.99.

Skeletor and Zodak are packaged on a blister card, with the 200X Castle Grayskull and logo on the front, and the back includes some great artwork featuring the character, the logo and informs fans that they are inspired from the episode “The Beginning” for Skeletor, and “Snake Pit” for Zodak.
Both figures includes a sheet of instructions showing which parts can be removed and swapped.

Skeletor is inspired from his cartoon appearance, and comes in a dark blue and black armor, with blue skin, with bones on the armor, and a jem at the center of the chest where the bones are in an X. The armor is made of a soft plastic, with the harness and skirt being able to be removed. There’s also a face as the belt buckle on the skirt, and since they went ahead and painted it a light grey, it helps it stand out more.

His head sculpt is hooded, with the skeletal head details and the blacked out eyes and nose. which is actually purple instead of black as the hood is cast in purple plastic, and Mattel did not give the eyes and nose the black deco that they should have.
His articulation includes a ball jointed, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, swivel Cales, hinged and rocker ankles.

Skeletor includes his 200X inspired havoc staff, with the skull on the end, and the two power swords that can be split apart, or placed together. The words are cast in purple and orange plastic.

Some comparisons of Skeletor with additional figures, including the Filmation Skeletor, his previous 200X release, Beast Man, Clawful, Evil Lyn and Tri-Klops.

Zodak is a powerful, immortal Eternian, Heroic Warrior and a former member of the Council or Elders. He comes in his red, grey and white outfit, which is made of a soft plastic, and tattoos on his torso, arms and legs. The armor is removable, including the vest and skirt.

The head sculpt is mostly covered in the red and grey helmet, and he has round black eyes, and only his mouth and parts of the lower head are shown.
His articulation includes a ball jointed, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, swivel Cales, hinged and rocker ankles.

Zodak includes his staff, which is made out of grey plastic.

A comparison is shown with Ram Man, Man-At-Arms, Prince Adam and Stratos.
Overall, Skeletor and Zodak look great and pay good likenesses to the classic 200X cartoon. This series remains to be a fan-favorite and has survived the test of time, proving its worth to the franchise despite the abrupt cancellation of the series after two seasons, on a cliffhanger with the Second Ultimate Battleground that would have seen He-Man and Skeletor’s forces collide with the Horde and Snake Men for the fate of Eternia. It’s a shame that Mattel has not continued this story outside of the MOTU Classic mini-comics.
These are definitely must haves to add to your collection, so grab them now at Entertainment Earth!
