in 2002, Mattel relaunched a new era for Masters of the Universe, which was a new fresh take on the franchise and this quickly became a fan-favorite series with strong and memorable storylines, cast and characters. Despite its popularity at the time, and even the many fans of this series today, this show was cancelled by Mattel in 2004 and a third season was not made, leaving it at a major cliff hanger of what would have been a war with He-Man and Skeletor’s joining forces against Hordak and King Hiss. A storyline of this show’s third season was introduced in the mini-comics that came with the Masters of the Universe Classics figures, which continued major plot points of what happened in the war, some of the surprising casualties, the introduction of She-Ra and the Great Rebellion as they arrived on Eternia to aid He-Man, and what happened after the events of the war.
This wave includes He-Man, Beast Man, Stratos, and Tri-Klops, all inspired by their appearance in the cartoon.
Thank you to Mattel for sending along a PR Box of their He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Origins 200X Cartoon Collection He-Man, Beast Man, Stratos & Tri-Klops Figures for review.

Availability: November 2025
He-Man, Stratos and Tri-Klops are packaged on blister cards, with the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe logo on top, Castle Grayskull, along with great artwork on the back, a look at their features and the rest of the wave. Beast Man comes on a window box, with images of him on the sides, and the back includes artwork, an action shot of the whip, and the reveal that Ram Man is also coming. Each figure comes with a sheet of instructions, and Beast Man includes a collector card with a bio on the back.

He-Man is given an all-new sculpt and Mattel went ahead and sculpted a new body base with their 200X line, and the parts are interchangeable and compatible with other Origins style figures. He-Man comes in a brown harness with the He-Man insignia on that as well as his belt buckle, a metallic silver belt, bracelets, brown lion cloth, brown boots with light brown cuffs, and the harness includes a sheath for the sword on the back.

His head sculpt is given a great likeness, with blonde sculpted hair, painted eyes and eye brows, and nicely done facial details.
His articulation is standard for the line, which includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, swivel calves/boots, hinged and rocker ankles.

He-Man includes his power sword, which is unpainted but case in metallic silver. What’s missing is the green and red deco that it had on the show, which is unfortunate. It’s also newly sculpted and not reissued from the one that came in the Mattel Creations 4-pack, which saw the first 200X He-Man in the Origins line.

Tri-Klops has shared parts with He-Man, a new tooled armor that is dark green, orange, and light grey, a black cloth with green on the sides, yellow belt, with armor on the knees, and the boots are black with yellow shin armor.

His head sculpt includes a spinning green visor, with three different eyes (orange, green and blue), with a grey eye lash above it, a black helmet and nicely done facial details.

Included is his sword, which is cast in green and given some great details.
The articulation is the same as He-Man’s.

Stratos also includes the same sculpt as He-Man, with newly tooled feet. He comes in his red and blue armor and harness, with red gauntlets with sculpted brown featured wings, grey handles attached to the gauntlets he can hold, and grey boots with jets on the back of the legs. His jetpack is attached to the harness on the back, and the harness has brown features on the top.

His head sculpt is masked with red, blue shades with black lenses, and sculpted hair on the chin and cheeks.

Included are the wings, and he has no other accessories. The wings are swivel-hinged, and he has the same articulation as He-Man. The wings are pretty long and thin, which is a nice touch.

Beast Man is big and bulky as seen in the series, and is part of the deluxe line. He has a sculpted mane with brown hair that can be removed, and given horns that are pointing upwards. The body is orange, and there is no sculpted fur, and he has a muscular tone, with a light grey and green belt, bracelets with spikes, brown knee and arm pads with spikes with black straps. The knee pads have straps that are connected to the straps around the ankles, and the lion cloth is given a sculpted texture.

His head sculpt looks great, and is given sculpted orange hair, an open mouth with shark teeth and a tongue, painted eyes, pointy ears, and nicely done facial details and sculpted hair.

Included is a whip, which is long and made of soft plastic, and he can hold it in one or both hands.

Overall, these 200X figures are an excellent choice for this line and a great likeness to how they appeared on in the 2002-2004 cartoon. These are even better than the vintage toys that came out, so you’re definitely going to want to add to your collection.
