X-Men ’97 is the continuation of the classic X-Men: The Animated Series, which originally ran from 1992 – 1997, which is also inspired from the pages of Marvel Comics. This series is going to be one of the most memorable in recent history, given the strong fan push for a revival. Considering it ended on a cliffhanger in 1997, getting this revival is nothing short of pure enthusiasm that the creators and fans have for this series. In celebration of this series, Hasbro is offering a new wave of action figures on retro cardbacks, and this wave includes Emma Frost, Morph, Jubilee,Cable, Sunspot and Logan.

Emma Frost and Logan are packaged on a retro style blister card, with images of the animated style characters on the front, X-Men ’97 logo, and the back includes images of the figures and a look at the rest of the wave.

Emma Frost is inspired by her X-Men ’97 animated series appearance, which was originally based on her comic appearance. This is a mostly white outfit, with a tight girdle, long white stockings with a black stripe in the front, long white sleeves, white gloves, and a long white cloak with sculpted white fur on top with a red jewel in the front holding the fur in place around her neck. The inside of the cloak is painted dark blue, and the sculpted white fur also has a grey wash at the bottom where it meets the cloak. The cloak also prevents the articulation in the arms from moving in their full potential, but you can remove it by poping off the head to get that range of motion in the arms and legs. She also can’t stand on her own, given she comes in high heels, most female action figures with those can’t, so a base, or stand would be required to get her to stand. It would be nice if Hasbro offered a base with a peg compatible with her feet, but unfortunately that’s not the case.

Emma Frost comes with two head sculpts, both with long blonde hair wit different appearances, and the facial details include neutral and grinning white teeth. with painted eyes, eye lashes, lipstick and nicely done facial details.

She also includes two sets of interchangeable hands, including closed fisted, and neutral.
Her articulation includes a ball jointed head and hinged neck, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.

Logan comes in his civilian outfit, including a brown leather jacket with a sculpted white collar, yellow shirt with black stripes, blue jeans, a black belt with silver belt buckle, black shoes, all given realistic sculpted wrinkles.

His head sculpt has a great likeness, including the black sculpted hair, bangs and eye lashes. The facial details include painted eyes and lips, and this is surely a great likeness.

Logan includes two sets of interchangeable hands, closed articulated claws that tend to pop out too easily if you don’t securely push them back into the slots, a left closed fisted hand, and a right neutral hand.

Also included is a deck of cards, which he can hold, but not too securely, in his neutral hand.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head and hinged neck, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.

Here are some comparisons with existing figures.
Overall, both Emma Frost and Logan are excellent figures with a great likeness to the source material, and make great additions to the line. Emma Fost is easily the best version of the character offered to-date. Make sure to grab both figures now to add to your X-Men ’97 collection. Entertainment Earth currently has these figures in-stock, so grab them and take advantage of that Buy More Save More sale!
