X-Men ’97 is the continuation of the classic X-Men: The Animated Series, which originally ran from 1992 – 1997, which is also inspired from the pages of Marvel Comics. This series is going to be one of the most memorable in recent history, given the strong fan push for a revival. Considering it ended on a cliffhanger in 1997, getting this revival is nothing short of pure enthusiasm that the creators and fans have for this series. In celebration of this series, Hasbro is offering a new wave of action figures on retro cardbacks, and this wave includes Emma Frost, Morph, Jubilee, Cable, Sunspot and Logan.

Jubilee and Sunspot are packaged on a retro style blister card, with images of the animated style characters on the front, X-Men ’97 logo, and the back includes images of the figures and a look at the rest of the wave.
Jubilee is another returning. character from the X-Men ’92 series, with an updated outfit as seen in the X-Men ’97 series. She comes in a yellow trench coat, which is placed over the torso and made of a soft plastic, with the sleeves sculpted on the arms. Underneath the trench coat, she comes in an almost all black outfit, with black gloves and boots, with a silver zipper and purple collar.
Her head sculpt is given a great likeness and she keeps her pink shades and circular earrings. She also has black sculpted hair, pink lips, painted eyes and nicely done facial details that pays a great tribute to her appearance in the series.
Included are three sets of interchangeable hands (neutral, right fisted, and left open grip for the cup), a cup with a straw, and the third set of hands includes an affect to showcase her mutant powers.
Her articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
Sunspot makes his debut in this series and is a new member of the X-Men until he temporarily leaves them to join Magneto. He comes in a black and yellow X-Men uniform, with the X-Men logo on the belt buckle, a red belt, yellow gloves and yellow boots.
His head sculpt pays a great likeness to his appearance in the series, including brown skin, black hair, light brown lips, and nicely done facial details.
Included with Sunspot are two sets of unchangeable hands (closed fisted and neutral with the fingers sculpted apart), and two effect flames. One of these flames has a hole in the center to place a closed fisted hand inside to hold it, while the other one loops through the fingers of the neutral hand to place it on the hand. The flames are made of translucent red and yellow plastic.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head and hinged neck, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, lower ab crunch, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, both Jubilee and Sunspot are excellent figures with a great likeness to the source material, and make great additions to the line. Jubilee is my personal favorite of the and she returns to the series and given a great sculpt. Make sure to grab both figures now to add to your X-Men ’97 collection.
