Iron Man and Spiral are based on their appearance in the classic Marvel vs. Capcom video game of the late 1990’s, which saw some of the better known characters from both brands fight each other in a 2-player video game. Hasbro is continuing their offerings of this line with this newly released set, along with additional figures such as Player 2 Wolverine vs. Psylocke coming later this year.

Iron Man and Spiral are packaged in a window box with the Gamerverse logo and artwork, including their names in 8-bit and logos that are inspired by the video game Marvel Vs. Capcom, the sides include video game images of the characters, and the back features Iron Man and Spiral in a pose as they’re about to fight. Also on the back are his statistics from the game, and beautifully done artwork. They come in a packaged in a plastic tray along with their accessories, and there’s a second plastic tray for Iron Man’s shield behind him.
Iron Man comes in a bulky figure sculpt that is inspired by the video game, which is bulkier than his normal comic-inspired figures, and something similar like we’ve seen with Wolverine in this line. Iron Man is given his classic red and yellow armored suit, with extra armor padding in yellow on his forearms, hips, knees and sides of his lower legs, which has sculpted line details. The armor is crisp and clean looking, and smooth with the metallic finish, which gives it a shiny look.
Iron Man’s articulation includes a ball jointed head and hinged neck, ball jointed lower neck joint, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel thighs, hinged and rocker ankles.
Iron Man’s head sculpt is helmeted, with the classic red and yellow helmet, with black eyes. The metallic finish is also on the helmet, and looks crisp and clean as the rest of the armor.
Iron Man includes three sets of interchangeable hand sculpts, including closed fisted, right pointing figure, left firing hand (this hand does not support the firing effect even though it has a hole for it to be plugged into), and a set of neutral firing hands with holes that can be used to plug the firing effects into.
Iron Man’s firing effect parts can be held in his open hands, and are given blue and purple effect translucent plastic. These parts are on the heavy side, so you need to chose poses that can support him hold these, such as the position of the arms, hands and more importantly, the legs and feet.
Iron Man’s shield includes a clip for the forearm, and he can hold onto it pretty well. The shield is made of transparent blue plastic, with a yellow square at the center.
The effect parts can also be placed on the bottom of his feet, but you need a way to support him for flight mode.
Spiral is given a reuse of her previously offered retro carded figure, with a new belt and head sculpt. This also includes a new upper left arm, which is now metal, as opposed to her flesh arm as previously offered. She comes in a light blue outfit, with a bright green sculpted fur, blue boots with black lining, a newly sculpted light purple belt with a dark purple belt buckle, yellow ovals on top of the outfit, and grey shoulder pads that are made of a soft plastic and easy to move around. All three arms on the right are flesh tone with bracelets, as well as the lower left arm. The upper left arms are both metal, with the upper shoulder flesh, and the center shoulder metal.
Spiral’s articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, ball hinged shoulders x6, swivel biceps x6, double-hinged elbows x6, swivel-hinged wrists x6, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel thighs, hinged and rocker ankles.
Her head sculpt is all-new, and includes a grey helmet that is non-removable, white hair, yellow eyes with black eye liner, red lip stick, and nicely done facial details.
Spiral includes a total of 12 interchangeable hand sculpts, including 6 open grip, 2 closed fisted, 2 karate chop, and 2 neutral. She is given more hands than previously offered, which is a nice additional to this figure. She also includes newly tooled 6 swords, which are short, and grey blades and blue handles.
Here are some images of Iron Man and Spiral together, which is certainly an interesting pairing and a 2-pack that you never knew you’d want!
Here’s a comparison of Iron Man and Spiral with some additional figures offered in this line, which are great additions to the line.
Overall, Iron and Spiral is a great addition to the line and features great likenesses to the source material. The Marvel vs. Capcom came is one of the most memorable crossover games in history, and anytime a company makes figures based on this game is memorable, even if one brand is completely left out of it. The attention to details, accessories, sculpt and paint all look great and this is a great set to add to your collection. Make sure to grab this and additional figures now at BigBadToyStore!
