The Fantastic Four are back with an all-new cast and the film is currently out in theaters, and we’re seeing a lot of product from this film already hit the toy aisle. One of the most notable releases inspired from the film are Hasbro’s Marvel Legends 6″ figures, which are also currently available. This wave includes Mr. Fantastic, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, Human Torch, The Thing and Silver Surfer. Fans are so excited for these figures that they are flying off the shelves and selling quickly, so make sure to get yours before they’re gone! Johnny Storm and The Thing are packaged in window boxes, with artwork and logo’s inspired from the new film. Both the sides and the back feature images of them in their respective packaging. It should be noted that the back of the packaging does not show additional figures I the wave, which is unusual for Marvel Legends.
Johnny Storm comes in his film-accurate light blue jumpsuit with white gloves, belt and boots with a black trim. The gloves have black on the inside and white on the outside, with the left glove featuring a dark grey bracelet. The boots are white with black trim, with the bottom of them featuring the same light blue with a black stripe as the rest of the jumpsuit. The 4 logo is on his chest, which is blue and light grey circle around it. The jumpsuit has a lot of sculpted textures, patterns and wrinkles, making it look and feel more life-like. The jumpsuit details and sculpt are brand new, but similar to Mr. Fantastic’s.
His head sculpt features the likeness of Actor Joseph Quinn, with blonde hair with a wash, and sculpted and painted eye brows. The facial details look great and this is a good likeness for him in this scale.
Included with Johnny Storm are two sets of interchangeable hands (closed fisted and grip), and two flame effects. The flame effects can be used for either hand, and are translucent orange and yellow.
His articulation includes a ball hinged head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
The Thing also comes in a similar light blue and white pants, belt and boots featuring black trim. The belt and paints feature the 4 logo, and there are metallic silver details on the lower legs. The upper torso, arms, head and feet feature his rocky form. The details and sculpting on the rocks look great and resembles a great likeness to him. The lower part of the upper torso, likely so it won’t scratch the lower chest. This comes in the same shade of orange with a wash, with the pants covering the rocky parts underneath. The pants are given the same sculpted details and textures as the jumpsuits on the other figures.
His head sculpt features the film likeness, with la rocky head, painted eyes, sculpted mouth and nicely done facial details.
The Thing is also given two sets of interchangeable hands, (closed fisted and neutral).
His articulation includes a ball hinged head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Comparing these to their Fantastic Four animated counterparts, which are the most recent one’s offered, these new movie figures certainly stand out compared to the comic or cartoon figures that have been offered.
Overall, Hasbro’s Fantastic Four: First Steps figures have been a treat for fans that have been wanting to see the return of Marvel’s first family, and all of these look great to the source material and fit in nicely with the Marvel Cinematic Universe collection.
