Human Torch and Silver Surfer are packaged in window boxes, with artwork and logo’s inspired from the new film. Both the sides and the back feature images of them in their respective packaging. It should be noted that the back of the packaging does not show additional figures I the wave, which is unusual for Marvel Legends.

The Human Torch is cast in translucent orange plastic and shares the same sculpt as Johnny Storm, with new flames on the ankles and feet, hands, upper back and torso, and a new head sculpt. As it’s the same sculpt, the sculpted textures, patterns and wrinkles remain on the jumpsuit, and he has the Fantastic Four logo in black on his chest. The bracelet on his left forearm remains, but it’s hard to see as it’s also in translucent orange plastic. The flames on the forearms are also removable by removing the hands, but the flames on the wrists, and ankles cannot be removed. The flames on the ankles are loose around them, but it’s not possible to removable the feet.

His head sculpt features the likeness of Actor Joseph Quinn, with translucent orange plastic, bright yellow eyes, and flames on his head. The facial details look great and this is a good likeness for him.

Included with the Human Torch are two sets of interchangeable hands (closed fisted and flight).
His articulation includes a ball hinged head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.

Shalla-Bal makes her debut as an action figure and is the female Silver Surfer, featuring the likeness of Actress Julia Garner. She comes in a smooth metallic dark grey deco and a lean sculpt, as you would expect. In the comics, she is Norrin Radd, the Silver Surfer, and became Galactus’ new herald in exchange for sparring her planet. This female sculpt is likely new as it’s movie inspired, but very similar to other female sculpts we’ve seen recently. The hands are reuse from X-Factor Jean Grey.

His head sculpt looks great and features a great likeness, including nicely done facial details, and long metallic silver hair..

She comes with two sets of interchangeable hands, including closed fisted and neutral, a left grip hand, a surf board, and an effect base for the surf board. The surf board includes one peg in the front for her foot to be placed on. The open grip hand doesn’t really grip onto the surf board, only placed on and cannot support her holding it. The base includes translucent orange plastic, and is a great support for the surf board and figure.

His articulation includes a ball hinged head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.

Comparing these to their Fantastic Four animated counterpart and the Silver Surfer figure that came with the crowdfunded Galactus figure, these certainly stand out on their own and make a great likeness to their movie counterparts.

Overall, Hasbro’s Fantastic Four: First Steps figures have been a treat for fans that have been wanting to see the return of Marvel’s first family, and all of these look great to the source material and fit in nicely with the Marvel Cinematic Universe collection. Make sure to grab these figures now at Entertainment Earth.
