Blokees are offering new lines of Model Kits, which were shown off at New York ToyFair and includes brands such as Marvel, Transformers, Star Wars and Anime. Venom is one of the first Marvel figures to be offered, which also includes Deadpool, Captain America, Wolverine, Thor and Iron Man. with additional characters such as Rocket Raccoon and Spider-Man are coming.
Each figure is a Model Kit, and light weight assembly that does not require painting or glueing, as it snaps together. There are 6 trays, each given a letter A-F, and the parts snap right off, two baggies that include the heads, hands, lightning effects, hair, connectors and parts of the arms and legs. The model kits are also relatively on the cheap side, as most of them at $19.99 each, with one version of Iron Man being $27.99. The figures are also shorter than Marvel Legends, as Venom is just under 6 inches tall, with the exception of the height of his tentacles.

Venom is packaged in a box with artwork, logo’s and images, with a breakdown of the parts and assembly on the back. A sheet of instructions is including with step by step instructions for assembly. The instructions, while good, don’t specify that some of the parts such as the shoulders, hands, specific joints and other parts are located in the baggie not labeled, while other parts are specified by letter and numbers to identify the tray and where they’re located as shown in the instructions.
Venom stands at just under 6″ tall and based on his appearance as seen in the Marvel’s Rivals video game. He comes in a black symbiote suit with a white spider on his chest and back, white squares on the hands, and some white stripes on the shoulders. There is also a wash of metallic dark blue over the black, which shines under light.
His head sculpt looks on the small side and is not proportional to the body, but goes have a good character likeness with the red tongue sticking out, white eyes, and white teeth.
Venom’s hands are clawed, and on a bit of the sharp side, and he comes with an interchangeable tentacle that can be swapped out with one of the arms, and that also has a sharp tip, which is surprising.
He comes with an interchangeable back piece that has four peg joints, so that the tentacles can be plugged into it on the back. Removing this once assembled is tricky, but take your time and be careful not to use excessive force.
The four tentacles have four swivel-hinged joints that connect each part, and plus into the back. These do tend to pop out of the back when you move it around and choose a pose, so be ready to pop it back into place. The joints are also on the fragile side, and do not attempt to bend it unless you have the tentacle completely assembled, as breakage may occur. If you break a joint, use super glue to resemble it, like I did.
His articulation incudes a ball jointed head and neck, ball jointed shoulders, butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, and swivel-hinged ankles, and hinged toes.

Overall, Venomis a great figure with a good likeness and a good amount of articulation for a Model Kit. The accessories, including the tentacle arm, back and tentacles are nice additions to this model kit. This was certainly fun to assemble and play with, and will make a nice addition to your Marvel collection. This scale will work best with Marvel action figures released by Toy Biz in the 1990’s, which were 5″. It doesn’t really work too well with most of today’s Marvel lines.
For those that are new to building Model Kits, this is a good jumping on point to get yourself familiar with it. The instructions are fairly easy to follow, but make sure to pay close attention to the assembly of the torso parts, and keep in mind that some parts are in the baggie, and not the tray itself.
