The results are in and Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Secret Wars line is a hit, all inspired by the classic storyline, which ran from 1984 – 1985 in Marvel Comics, and also had a great toy line by Kenner. The story puts Marvel’s heroes and villains against each other and placed on BattleWorld by the Beyonder. This wave includes Constrictor, Falcon, Daredevil, Magik, Spider-Man (Alien Costume) and Absorbing Man.

Falcon is packaged on a blister card with artwork and logo’s inspired from the vintage Secret Wars toy line of the 1980’s by Kenner. The back includes an action shot of him, a description, images of the wave, and instructions of the shield that includes a hologram.

Falcon is given an updated sculpt compared to figures released in recent years, and the parts used here are on the latest body sculpts used for Marvel Legends. He is also a vast improvement over his 1984 release in Kenner’s Secret Wars line, and the outfit and deco pays a great homage to that figure as well. He comes in his class red and white outfit, with yellow on the mask and feet, just as the vintage Kenner figure had and how he appeared in the Secret Wars storyline. The paint applications and nice and crisp and the red lines over the white looks great. He comes in a white and red vest, red pants, white and red boots, with some yellow on the top of the boots as mentioned, and white gloves.
Included is a set of closed wings that clip into the slots on his forearm and triceps, but you cannot bend the arms using these wings or the open wings as it locks the arms in this position with the wings are attached. The wings are also prone to falling out, so be careful.

His head sculpt is masked with white and yellow, with sculpted black hair, painted eyes, and nicely done facial details.

Redwing is a non-articulated figure with sculpted feathers, a yellow beak and feet, painted eyes, and there’s a plastic red clip at the bottom allowing him to clip onto Falcon’s wrist.

The open wings recreates his flight, and these wings also make the arms stay in his position and cannot be bent with the wings attached. He also includes two sets of interchangeable hands (closed fisted and flight/chop).
His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, swivel waist, ball joined hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.

The shield includes a hologram that shows Sam Wilson and Falcon with and without his mask by moving it up and down. The first wave had shields that you can open it up and replace the hologram with a Secret Wars logo piece. This release does not have an extra piece to be swapped out, but you can still open the shield and replace it with a logo piece from one of wave 1’s offerings if you prefer.

Here’s a comparison with two recent Falcon figures. As you can see this sculpt is new for the character, and is also an improvement.

Here’s a comparison with Absorbing Man, Captain Marvel, and all of wave 1’s offerings.
Overall, Falcon is a great figure and a welcome addition to the line. This is definitely an essential offering considering the new sculpt and the fact that he’s an improvement over previous Falcon figures. Make sure to grab Hasbro’s Secret Wars waves 1 and 2 at BigBadToyStore!
